Pinche AIDS
Jonah Feld of the Burrito Blog e-mailed me this week to let me know that his San Francisco burrito correspondent, Phil Jonas, will be doing the AIDS/Lifecycle bike-a-thon, a 585-mile ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, starting June 4, to raise money for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. This is an EXTREMELY worthy cause, and I urge you to donate generously.
Jonah also asks, "What’s up with no recent posts?...Please don’t give up on your blog!"
I haven't given up, but my time and energy have been somewhat consumed by my own recent diagnosis of cancer. Now, don't go getting all smoopy on me: The doctors say I'm going to be just fine. However, I have about four months of chemotherapy, a second surgery and six weeks of radiation between me and "just fine." Under the circumstances, I'm having a hard time concentrating on food. (Although, now that I think about it, I picked up a really amazing container of salsa picante at the corner market the other day, and it turned out to be from the taqueria La Cascara...)
